I am excited to be writing my first Write Girl blog post and embarking on a new career.
Some people enjoy retail, others working with animals. For me I’ve always loved writing promotional text – developing the appropriate words to convey messages.
My background is in arts publicity. I also teach Public Relations to first year business students. In my opinion, communications and promotional writing is akin to detective work. Detailed research coupled with interviews. Ultimately discovering the heart of the story. Essential work for the communicator (and teacher for that matter) and in my chosen profession – the copywriter.
I have a vivid imagination. A frenzy of television viewing as a kid, whilst questionable, did spur a love of popular culture. Which in turn sparked an appreciation for a good story.
To that end I have a couple of scripts in development. So in between the business, teaching and postings, that’s where I generally am.
I live in beautiful St Kilda, Victoria, Australia. Near the sea, friends and family and lots of eating places. Lucky me – life is good.
