Melbourne Comedy Festival 2013

The power of words was best illustrated in the recent Great Debate.

Comedians Paul McDermott, Eddie Peppitone, Cal Wilson, Rich Hall and Paul Foot were in superb form and debated the topic ‘That Actions speak louder than Words’.

The annual Great Debate is performed in front of a huge live audience and recorded for television broadcast.

The teams presented beautifully-worded, humorous scripts and explored whether actions or words spoke louder. The ‘actions’ team argument was supported by edgy, anarchic circus performers. Including a formidable gal wearing a steel-plated bustier and cod-piece, from which shot sparks, when touched by a magic instrument.

However in the end and sans bells and whistles, the word team won over the crowd and the debate. Proving life is far more than just actions and nothing without words.
